In a state where recreational marijuana smoking was just ruled legal, a 23-year-old man was reportedly high on the drug when he crashed his car into two Colorado trooper vehicles.
KUSA-TV reported that police arrested Keith Kilbery on charges of driving under the influence of drugs. The crash occurred in the left lane of an exit ramp - an "unacceptable" wreck, a police spokeswoman said, to The Denver Post. The troopers had pulled over their vehicles when Mr. Kilbery reportedly drove into them, The Blaze said.
"It is unacceptable that troopers and their vehicles continue to be hit on our roadways," said Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman Cpl. Heather Cobler, in The Denver Post. "This time we were fortunate, but many officers across the nation are not so lucky."
The state troopers weren't in the vehicles at the time of the crash.
A driver in Colorado is considered under the influence of marijuana with "5 nanograms or more of active THC ... per milliliter of blood," Colorado law states.
