Man quizzed on suspicion of cannabis cultivation following bust

Drug squad detectives seized cannabis worth up to £640,000 during a bust on a house in north Liverpool.

Police armed with a a Misuse of Drugs Act Warrant discovered the cannabis farm during a raid in Anfield .

A man arrested at the scene on suspicion of cannabis cultivation remains in police custody.

Officers executed the warrant on Friday morning at the property in Townsend Avenue.

During a search of the house officers found more than 790 plants over three floors.

The plants and hydroponics system were today being removed from the property and the search is on-going.

The plants are thought to be worth between £320K and £640K.

Inspector Paddy Kelly said: "This was an excellent result and thanks to community intelligence we have been able to take a significant amount of drugs off the streets of Merseyside.

"We take all reports of illegal drugs activities in communities extremely seriously and will take robust action to put an end to the criminal behaviour of those involved in the drugs trade.

"We will seek to bring offenders to justice by putting them behind bars and stop them from bringing misery to the lives of other residents."
