Cannabis smoker caught in South Molton after police smell drug coming from his car
Gary White was caught after police smelt cannabis coming from his car.
A CANNABIS smoker was caught after police smelt the drug coming from his car while he was parked outside a South Molton shop.
Gary White, 38, of Lenwood Country Club in Northam, appeared in front of North Devon magistrates charged with possessing 10.4 grams of cannabis worth around £100.
Karen Ball, for the prosecution, told the court that police officers were on duty in South Molton and noted White was the driver of a car parked next to a shop.
They detected a strong smell coming from his car and White told police he had been smoking a joint before reaching into his glove box and pulling out a jar with the drug inside.
White, who was unrepresented, said: "I am not going to do it again. I needed something to stop me and that was the catalyst for it."
Magistrates fined White £215 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
