CANNABIS was found chilling next to some lettuce in a fridge in Woodside during a police search in Woodside this morning.

Officers from Woodside Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) made the discovery as they conducted house-to-house enquiries in response to local concerns about cannabis production in the area.

Approximately 350 plants were found dotted around the house, including in the loft, kitchen and landing.

A man in his forties has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and he currently remains in police custody.

Other drugs paraphernalia were found at the address and engineers from EDF were also called to the address to make the electrics safe.

Sergeant David Deuchar from the Woodside SNT said:

"We've made this discovery after local residents told us of concerns that drugs were present in the area.

"Thanks to the help of the local residents we've been able to discover a cannabis factory and it will certainly help to make Woodside a safer place.

"We'd encourage any local residents to get in touch with us if they have similar concerns about drugs, or any other kind of crime or antisocial behaviour. We will listen and we will take action where appropriate."
