A boy aged 16 has been charged after police discovered a huge cannabis farm with drugs worth more than £200,000.
Officers raided a mid-terrace house in Great Lever, Bolton, and found over 500 plants and growing equipment.
The drug factory was spread over the first floor and attic rooms of a property on Cyril Street, police said.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with producing cannabis and abstracting electricity after the raid, on Tuesday, December 30 and is due before Bolton youth court today.
A GMP spokesman said a total of 535 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £214,000 were seized.
PC Carl Boydell said: “Acting on information provided to us we executed a warrant and recovered cannabis worth close to quarter of a million pounds. We also recovered growing equipment and other paraphernalia and arrested and subsequently charged someone.
"This incident demonstrates that we will act on information from the public and take positive and robust action against anyone involved in the drug trade or wider criminality.
"The electrics had been tampered with and in doing so created a very real fire risk that put innocent neighbours in jeopardy. Thankfully the electrics have now been made safe and that risk has been averted.
"I would encourage anyone with suspicion that a cannabis farm may be in a neighbouring property to call us in complete confidence.”
