A man who supplied undercover police officers with cannabis while he was in a snooker club has been jailed for two years.
Leeds Crown Court heard on Friday that Arshid Safdar was arrested under Operation Overwood where police targeted drug dealers in Kirklees.
John Bull, prosecuting, said officers were chatting to people in the Top Break Snooker club in Batley on December 9 last year when the topic of cannabis arose and Safdar agreed he could supply them some.
On that occasion he handed over 1.42 grammes for £20 and gave them a mobile number to ring him. Three days later they returned to the club and he again supplied them with £20 worth from a bag containing about 30 other grip sealed bags.
Similar supplies occurred on December 31, January 6 and February 3. Safdar was arrested on June 3 after the phone number he supplied was traced to his home address in Lady Ann Road, Batley.
The court heard Safdar was jailed for 16 months in 2011 for supplying cannabis.
Nicholas Worsley, representing him, said the circumstances of that were identical where he was caught supplying undercover officers at the same club.
He said Safdar was not sophisticated. He smoked cannabis himself and could not afford to buy it so supplied to pay for his own needs and usually could be found at the same seat in the club.
Safdar, 33 admitted five charges of supplying cannabis and possessing cannabis.
Jailing him Judge Geoffrey Marson QC said it was accepted he supplied over that two month period to fund his own habit but his situation was aggravated by his previous record.
