A BARROW man who was found asleep in his car and in possession of cannabis has been banned from the roads for three years.
Jevon Turner, 33, of Worcester Street, Barrow, was found by police asleep at 11.20pm on March 3 in Rawlinson Street.
Officers noticed Turner's pupils were dilated and a search of the vehicle found a small quantity of cannabis.
Turner subsequently refused to give a blood test at Barrow Police Station.
He pleaded guilty to possession of a Class B drug, failing to provide a specimen of blood and failing to surrender to court at Furness Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Lisa Hine, prosecuting, said that Turner claimed he was sleeping as he had had a "busy day at work".
Magistrates banned Turner from driving for three years, imposed a supervision order for 12 months and a curfew for Turner to be at home for eight weeks between 7pm and 6am.
He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
Jacqueline Barnfield, chair of magistrates, said: "It is a serious offence not to provide a sample of blood."
