A MAN was today behind bars after being caught with nearly £25,000 of cannabis hidden in the spare tyre of his car.
Antonio Punzano was sentenced at Aberdeen Sheriff Court after previously admitting to being concerned in the supply of the controlled drug.
Punzano was stopped by police on September 12 last year on the A90 at Temple of Fiddes, near Stonehaven.
Punzano, whose address was listed in court papers as 77 Craigievar Crescent, Aberdeen, and another passenger were searched and drugs with a potential maximum street value of £24,950 were found concealed in the spare tyre of the vehicle.
Sheriff William Summers handed 32-year-old Punzano a 21-month jail sentence at the city's sheriff court yesterday.
