Takeoff Tribute
One year on, the hip-hop community still grieves the death of Migos rapper Takeoff. On Sunday, June 18, his friend and collaborator Offset posted pictures of himself and the late MC on social media to mark what would have been his 29th birthday.Â
This follows a barrage of homages and celebrations of his life and music from fans and industry figures. 'Set's wife, Cardi B, called him an "angel" in one social media post.
Offset's words concentrate on who Takeoff, or to use his real name Kirsnick Khari Ball was, in his entirety and not just who he was on stage.Â
"Happy birthday, rocket man, the greatest to touch a mic!! Best spirit ever!! Purest man, I know your heart was golden. Bring me peace, bra. We celebrate your life because you are still right here. I love you, gang."Â
This came after fellow rapper Quavo's message to his nephew on Instagram.
"Happy Birthday, can't wait for days like this again!!!" he captioned a video of the two stars searching through a pile of clothing.
While Migos may never be the same again after Takeoff's untimely passing and their previous inner wrangles, fans still took time to celebrate the late legend and convey their consolations to both remaining members. It has not been straightforward for fans who can see that things have changed and aren't the same as they were; however, despite the persistent issues, fans seem to continue placing Take's legacy above it all.
In the matter of the legal side of things, authorities have formally indicted a suspect in Takeoff's murder which is bringing his family and close ones a big step closer to achieving justice and closure for his tragic and untimely loss. Since this announcement, however, no additional details surrounding the case's progress have materialised, which is frustrating for many fans looking for developments after months of mourning.Â
