DRUGS worth more than £7,000 have been seized by police and four arrests were made after two searches in Paignton.

DRUGS worth more than £7,000 have been seized by police and four arrests were made after two searches in Paignton.

Police sealed off part of Conway Road when the first of two warrants were executed on Friday just after 1pm.

Skunk cannabis worth £2,000 and 20 cannabis plants worth £5,500 were found.

Paignton Neighbourhood team manager Sgt Jason Metcalfe said: "We executed a warrant under the Theft Act at an address in Conway Road in relation to a series of offences in the Paignton and Brixham area.

"At the property we recovered approximately 6oz of a substance thought to be skunk cannabis. There were two people present inside the flat when the police attended.

"Another arrest was made and a search was made at another flat in the town and a further 20 cannabis plants were recovered, worth about £5,500, and a fourth arrest was made.

"I would like to appeal for local residents to contact police with any information in relation to worries or concerns they may have about their community. Further action is anticipated in the Paignton and Brixham area in the next few weeks thanks to community-based intelligence.

"The intention is to get into the local community and talk to people and make Paignton and Brixham safer places to live for everyone."

After the raid a police notice was posted in Conway Road (pictured) which said: "Local police and partners have taken action against crime and anti-social behaviour in this area.

"This action has been carried out in response to information received from your community."

A neighbour in Conway Road said after the drugs warrant: "The road was blocked with police cars at either end. The raid was at a flat where there are always a lot of people coming and going. We were really pleased to see the police there."

Four people were arrested and released on police bail pending further investigations.
