Epsom Salts For Cannabis
Epsom salts are crystallised magnesium sulphate. Magnesium Sulphate is a naturally occurring mineral used by all living things. Magnesium Sulphate is present in 95% of mineral waters, and up to 2% of ocean sea salt is Magnesium Sulphate.
This mineral is usually in short supply in most foods and many people are deficient in it. Increasing the levels of it can reduce severe acute asthma attacks and is used to control seizures linked with toxaemia during pregnancy. It is useful for all sorts of muscle contraction problems, as well as some dysrhythmia problems. Epsom Salts have been used for hundreds of years as a liver cleanser and as a laxative.
When used commonly as a bath salt, magnesium sulphate can be absorbed through the skin, drawing toxins from the body, sedating the nervous system, reducing swelling, and relaxing muscles.
Epsom salts are named after the mineral-rich waters of Epsom, England. They were initially created by vaporising the spring water from which the minerals naturally occur.
How do Epsom Salts Help Plants?
For plants Epsom salts can provide two essential elements that they require, ie Magnesium and Sulphur that become available in a soluble that is absorbed through the leaves and roots. At the dilution rate required by plants, it is also friendly to the soil and stimulates microbial life.
Like anything, if it is overused it will cause harm to the soil and any plant life. Balance is key, if your plant does not need it don't use it.
A large plant grown outdoors in cultivated soil that has access to a satisfactory balance of nutrients will never show signs of having an Mg deficiency.
Because indoor plants grown in containers have a limited root mass, this is when you
are most probably going to see issues arising. Magnesium deficiencies are best dealt with at an early stage.
A magnesium deficiency in cannabis will show first on the lower leaves, with the green between the veins starting to lighten in the very early stages. This lightening will steadily continue and plants will begin to yellow as the deficiency takes more of a hold.
