Cannabis worth £3,000 was seized and a man arrested after police officers in Bristol spotted a motorist acting suspiciously.

At around 3.30pm on Sunday April 27 two police officers were on patrol in Clifton when they saw a motorist acting suspiciously on Abbotsford Road.

They followed the vehicle and stopped it on St. John's Road so they could speak to the driver. The vehicle was searched and police found cannabis worth around £3,000, which had been separated into individual deal-sized bags.

The cannabis was seized and the driver, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply a controlled drug.

He was taken into custody, interviewed and then released on bail, pending further inquiries. While he was in custody police executed a warrant in Eastfield Road in Cotham and found more cannabis and some powders - white and brown - which they suspect to be illegal substances.

Two mobile phones and a large amount of cash which the suspect had on him have been seized along with two laptops found in the Cotham address.

The investigation into this incident continues. Inspector Stuart Bell said: "As a result of these officers stopping the vehicle we've now been able to take a Class B drug off our streets and seize cash which we believe could have been gained through drug-dealing.

"The drugs were found ready to be sold on and so by seizing them we have taken positive action to protect our communities from harm.

"I hope the action today deters others who think they can get away with dealing drugs in Bristol."
