CANNABIS was seized when police raided a property in Liskeard, magistrates were told.

The householder, 45-year-old Wayne Cooper, of Lanchard Rise, pleaded guilty to possession of the Class B drug when he appeared before Bodmin court in custody on Thursday.

Carrie-Ann Rawlings, for the prosecution, said that police executed a search warrant just after 8am on Wednesday and found two lots of skunk cannabis with a total estimated street value of around £50, as well as drug paraphernalia and cash.

Cooper was frank with officers when interviewed, saying the drug was his.

The court was told that he has seven convictions for drug offences between 2012 and 2013.

Steve Cox, for the defence, said that Cooper had co-operated fully and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

The magistrates fined Cooper £130 with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge and ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs and paraphernalia.
