A BARROW teenager could be jailed after being caught with drugs with an estimated value of more than £6,000.
A BARROW teenager could be jailed after being caught with drugs with an estimated value of more than £6,000.
Max Dubka pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis and possession of cannabis when he appeared before Furness Magistrates' Court.
The court was told the 18-year-old could face a jail term of 12 months or more.
Dubka was in a car that was stopped by police on November 12 in Barrow and police discovered a snap-lock bag containing the remains of cannabis plants, as well as more than £1,000 in cash.
Mr Peter Kelly, prosecuting, said: "He was found to be a passenger in a car which the police had stopped.
"Found within the car were hydroponic equipment and the remains of cannabis plants and a quantity of cash.
"There was £1,150 recovered from the vehicle."
He was arrested and police searched his home, where they found 13 bags containing cannabis in his bedroom.
After examination they found his finger prints on the bags.
Police also retrieved electrical transformers, lights, fertiliser, two mobile phones and a debts list.
Mr Kelly added: "When in police custody a text was received saying ‘What time yous get back I need a g' - which is a request to be supplied with a gram of controlled substance.
"The drug squad estimate the potential street value to be in excess of £6,000."
Dubka said he was looking after the plants for others in return for money.
Mr Mike Graham, defending, said: "He is saying ‘I was asked to help move equipment and drugs and I was told I'd get some money - that is my role."
Dubka, of Egerton Court, Barrow, is due to be sentenced in Preston Crown Court on March 28.
Magistrates' released Dubka on unconditional bail.
