Grow Op Odor Management

Soft Secrets

If you’ve ever chewed the fat with someone who has been smoking cannabis for a few decades, you’ll soon notice that most of those they know who have been caught growing illegal grass were caught because of the heavy smell of mature cannabis. It tends to hover around the house. Since no one wants to be caught growing sixty plants and doing time, there are a few methods you can use to reduce or even eradicate the smell of your maturing cannabis crop. Activated charcoal air filters are your friend. They’re usually marketed as atmosphere refreshers. Most people have walls or dividers around their crop, so the placement of an air filter is a no-brainer. Try to place it within the wall or divider at waist height. Most of the filter systems I’ve used over the decades say on the box to replace the filter every month. This isn’t enough to keep the extremely strong and heavy scents involved in growing cannabis in check. Change your filter every week. You’ll notice the reduction of odour almost immediately. One thing on the box of your air filter that you have to ponder is the amount of atmosphere it filters. It’ll be placed very prominently on the packaging. Figure out the dimensions, usually in square meters, of your growing area. You may need to use two or three air filters to get a handle on the scent. Some growers opt to place their filters on a fan that is attached to a window. The clean, filtered atmosphere is ducted to the out of doors. Keeping the air flow through the growing area vented in this way doesn’t allow the smell to permeate the house and surrounding property. You might also have to employ a pair or even a triplicate of filters to negate the smell entirely.
