Ben Crump, the lawyer for the parents of Trayvon Martin, slammed the Sanford Police Department Tuesday morning for leaking information that could be favorable to George Zimmerman and damaging to the late 17-year-old's image. Appearing on CBS' This Morning, Crump echoed his clients' criticism over reports leaked from police Monday: That Zimmerman told police Martin was the aggressor and Martin was suspended from school for marijuana possession

"There is no relevance any of this has on what happened on February 26," Crump said.

"There is no relevance any of this has on what happened on February 26," Crump said. "The only thing that matters on February 26 is George Zimmerman disobeyed the police and got out of his car and pursued and stalked Trayvon Martin to cause this fatal encounter." "If the police want to leak information, why won't they leak the witnesses who say they saw him pursue Trayvon? But they have only did things that are beneficial to Mr. Zimmerman's claim of self-defense, and the only reason we could think that from day one, they made a decision that they were not going to arrest George Zimmerman.

And each day goes by, the whole world is saying that you have to at least arrest this guy." Crump added: "That's why people are so outraged. The whole way the police have conducted this investigation has been that Trayvon Martin is the subject. They put on the police report, the first thing. And if you assume he's the subject, then that makes George Zimmerman the victim. That is the problem. The investigation was never fair and impartial." Martin's parents plan to appear Tuesday at a forum on racial profiling and hate crimes on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.
