Some are tinted to simulate the sun’s spectrum exactly, which is cool to see. These bulbs usually come in 20 watt and 40 watt power sizes. I found that the 20 watt bulb suffices every time. You have to mind the bulb’s height closely with the 40 watt bulb, as it can sometimes dry out the topmost leaves. Cannabis leaves grow fast and due to this are thin and fragile things.
Another great thing about fluorescents is the fact that they can be kept in the high humidity sprouting area without burning out. You can wet the bulb and very little will happen. If you were to try that with a 1000 watt lamp it would explode and just generally cause a huge mess that you’ll have to clean up.
