INDOOR CULTIVATION IN LIMITED SPACE
Today, we will explore together the different possibilities that are available to us when we want to cultivate indoors in more or less restricted spaces. In this case, the cultivation area is mansarded since it is the attic of a dwelling. The space is divided into two sections. There is the growth section and the flowering section. The growth space is actually a darkroom 90 ( 90*90*185cm) with a 200 watt CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) lighting, an extractor and an air intractor. The flowering area is a small dressing room transformed into a flowering room with hammered mylar covering the walls. 2 pools of 120*120cm have been added to the ground to prevent water leaks. There is a lighting system consisting of 2 HPS of 400 watts each. The lamps are cooltubed and connected to a large air extractor placed in a homemade soundproofing box.
This is the general description of the cultivation area.
Next, I will explain the main disadvantages you may encounter when growing in similar areas.
-High temperatures in summer during hot weather. This is the main and most important problem if you do not want to see your plants die of dehydration.
-The pests. If you have an infestation of pests such as red spiders, thrips or soil flies, etc. , you will need to treat all the plants in both areas and then thoroughly clean the growing areas to avoid further invasions. In this case, cleanliness and preventive products will help you avoid encountering these unwanted insects.
-A low ceiling height
These are the main disadvantages of these places.
Now we will discover which varieties we can plant. We will necessarily avoid Sativa varieties that have a high stretch and a large size since the height of the space is limited. They can be grown, but pruning and/or trellising or other techniques will have to be used to control the height of the plants. We will therefore naturally move towards Indica varieties and more precisely towards varieties whose maximum height does not exceed 90 cm since the height of the pots must be taken into consideration. In our case, the cultivation is done in 4-litre pots (Biobizz light-mix soil). The fertilizers used are alga grow for growth and alga bloom for flowering with GHE biobud boost as flowering booster. Here we use organic amendments because the emphasis is on
enhancing aromas, terpenes and taste and not on productivity and yield.
In the darkroom of growth there are therefore 2 varieties mainly indica which are:
-SHARK WIDOW from ADVANCED SEEDS
-OG KUSH from DINAFEM
For the shark widow there is only one phenotype and for the OG KUSH there are 4 phenotypes that I would present to you in another article.
We will therefore find these two varieties throughout their growing cycle in order to show you that it is relatively easy to grow in this type of place despite the few major constraints to be taken into account. Indeed, the key is to adapt to the environment.
We will start from cuttings and follow the growth then the flowering and finally the harvest.
See you soon for new updates of these pretty plants.
