Several states have legalized Cannabis already, but implementation is another story. As of July 1, adults aged twenty-one and over in Oregon will be allowed to carry up to an ounce of pot when outside of the home and up to eight ounces of weed when in the comfort of their own home.

The fourth part of the country to legalize recreational weed, Oregon residents will not be allowed to buy marijuana from retailers until late 2016, as the regulatory structure for pot retail has not yet been implemented. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission or OLCC will be responsible for licensing, regulating and taxing commercial Cannabis sold for recreational purposes. Applications for licenses will be accepted by this state agency beginning next year.

In 2015 and 2016, recreational weed legalization efforts are expected to produce results in several states, including Massachusetts, Ohio, California and Arizona, among others.
