Bundles of marijuana were dropped from a plane Monday morning over San Diego.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection began tracking the ultra-light plane as it crossed the border about 4:15 a.m. and returned to Mexico without landing.

Federal agents said a plane originated in Mexico dropped the bundles of pot that were tied to a cage used to hold cargo at a location just north of Brown Field Airport.

Authorities said they seized more than 260 pounds of the drug in 10 bundles from a field about two miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Federal agents arrested two people, a 32-year-old undocumented immigrant and a 49-year-old legal permanent resident, in connection with the drop.
